ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Mn(C(9)H(7)N(4)O(3)S)Cl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(CH(4)O)(H(2)O)], contains an Mn(II) ion six-coordinated by one O atom from the 2-[1-(4-hydroxy-phen-yl)-1H-tetra-zol-5-ylsulfan-yl]-acetate ligand, two N atoms from a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, one O atom from a methanol mol-ecule, one Cl atom and one water mol-ecule in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The existence of O-H?Cl, O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen bonds further produces a two-dimensional structure.

The water mol-ecules, including the uncoordinated water mol-ecules, and the acetate O atoms are involved in O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, which link the components into layers parallel to the a (b + c) plane.

The water O atoms are in a trans arrangement and one of them forms an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond to the uncoordinated O atom of the acetate ion. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules and water mol-ecules are connected by O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds to generate a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title complex, [Mn(2)(C(8)H(7)O(3))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5CH(3)OH, is a carboxyl-ate-bridged dinuclear Mn(II) complex with four phenoxy-acetate ions and two 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules as ligands. Each of the four phenoxy-acetate anions bridges the pair of Mn atoms. The asymmetric unit is completed by a half-occupancy methanol solvent mol-ecule. Face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions between the aromatic rings of 1,10-phenanthroline molecules belonging to adjacent Mn(2) complexes, with an inter-planar separation of circa 3.4 Å, and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the dinuclear units into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(2)Cl(3)O(2))(2)Cl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], features a centrosymmetric binuclear complex. The coordination geometry around the Cu(II) atom is square-pyramidal, comprising two N atoms from a symmetrically chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, one O atom from a trichloro-acetate ligand and two Cl(-) anions. In addition, there is a weak intra-molecular Cu?O inter-action of 2.9403?(14)?Å involving the carbonyl O atom of the trichloro-acetate ligand. The central Cu(2)Cl(2) core takes the form of a rhombus, owing to the disparate Cu-Cl bond lengths. Mol-ecules are connected in the crystal structure by C-H?Cl and C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title complex, [Zn(C(7)H(6)NO(2)S)(2)(H(2)O)](n), consists of extended layers parallel to (001) with 2-(pyridin-4-ylsulfan-yl)acetate ligands bridging the Zn(II) atoms. The Zn(II) atom shows a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal coordination environment. The Zn(II) and one O atom are situated on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, intra-layer O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions help to consolidate the coordination layer.
