ABSTRACT: The structure of the title compound, [Dy(C(8)H(22)B(4)Si(2))Cl(C(6)H(16)N(2))], reveals that a center of symmetry exists within the dimeric half-sandwich units. Within each half-sandwich, the Dy(III) ion is coordinated by the five-membered ring of the carborane, tetramethylethyl-enediamine and the chloride ion.

N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds help to stabilize the crystal structure. The H atom involved in an N-H?N hydrogen bond is disordered around a twofold rotation axis.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(4)H(6)N(3)O)(2)[InCl(5)(H(2)O)], comprises two independent cytosinium cations and an aquapentachloridoindate anion. The In(III) ion is in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal, alternating layers of cations and anions are arranged along [010] and are linked via inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming sheets parallel to (001). Additional stabilization within these sheeets is provided by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Crystal structure of di-?-chlorido-bis-[di-chlorido-bis-(methanol-?O)iridium(III)] dihydrate: a surprisingly simple chlorido-iridium(III) dinuclear complex with methanol ligands.

Project description:The reaction between IrCl3·xH2O in methanol led to the formation of small amounts of the title compound, [Ir2Cl6(CH3OH)4]·2H2O, which consists of two IrCl4O2 octa-hedra sharing an edge via chloride bridges. The mol-ecule lies across an inversion center. Each octa-hedron can be envisioned as being comprised of four chloride ligands in the equatorial plane with methanol ligands in the axial positions. A lattice water mol-ecule is strongly hydrogen-bonded to the coordinating methanol ligands and weak inter-actions with coordinating chloride ligands lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network. This is a surprising structure given that, while many reactions of iridium chloride hydrate are carried out in alcoholic solvents, especially methanol and ethanol, this is the first structure of a chloridoiridium compound with only methanol ligands.

Project description:The mol-ecular geometry of the complex cation in the title structure, [(?-Cl)(3){Ru(II)(?(6)-C(6)Me(6))}(2)][Fe(III)Cl(4)], compares very well with that reported earlier for the corresponding PF(6) (-) salt [Pandey et al. (1999 ?). J. Organomet. Chem.592, 278-282]. The [FeCl(4)](-) counter ion has a rather regular tetra-hedral geometry with Fe-Cl distances and Cl-Fe-Cl angles in the range 2.1891?(7)-2.2018?(8)?Å and 107.10?(3)-110.56?(3)°, respectively. There are no significant inter-molecular inter-actions in the crystal except for some weak C-H?Cl contacts, which in turn indicates that the crystal packing is determined predominantly by electrostatic inter-actions between the ionic constituents.

The Bi(III) coordination polyhedron is a distorted octa-hedron and two such octa-hedra share a triangular face to form the complex anion. There are three short terminal Bi-Cl bonds [2.5471?(6)-2.5781(5?Å] and three longer bridging bonds [2.8599?(5)-2.9984?(6)?Å] in each octa-hedron. Anions, cations and water mol-ecules are linked by hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional network. There are also ?-? stacking inter-actions between quinoline ring systems, with an inter-planar distance of 3.27?(1)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, {(C7H6NS)2[Sb2Cl6O]} n , contains two benzo-thia-zolidium cations and one tri-μ-chlorido-tri-chlorido-μ-oxido-di-anti-monate(III) anion. The structure of the inorganic cation may be described as as being built up from two polyhedra, i.e. a square-pyramidal SbCl4O and a distorted octa-hedral SbOCl5 unit, sharing a common face (comprising the O atom and two Cl atoms). The two benzo-thia-zole cations are quasi-planar and subtend a dihedral angle of 19.93 (5)°. The crystal packing can be described by alternating (100) layers and [001] chains of the organic cations and inorganic anions connected through an extensive three-dimensional network of N-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. This is consolidated by slipped π-π stacking, with centroid-to-centroid distances between the benzo-thia-zole rings of 3.7111 (18)-3.8452 (16) Å. These inter-actions link the mol-ecules within the layers and also link the layers together and reinforce the cohesion of the ionic structure.

In the [SbCl(5)](2-) unit, the Sb(III) ion is coordinated by five chloride anions [Sb-Cl = 2.3721?(11)-2.6656?(12)?Å] in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. However, one chloride anion from a neighbouring [SbCl(5)](2-) unit provides a short Sb?Cl contact of 3.3600?(12)?Å and completes the Sb coordination environment up to an elongated octa-hedron. Project description:In the mononuclear title complex, [Dy(C(7)H(5)O(4))(2)(NO(3))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Dy(III) atom is in a distorted bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, four O atoms from two 2,6-dihy-droxy-benzoate (DHB) ligands and two O atoms from a nitrate anion. Inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions between the phen and DHB ligands [centroid-centroid distances = 3.542?(4) and 3.879?(4)?Å] and between the pyridine and benzene rings of adjacent phen ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.751?(4)?Å] stabilize the crystal structure. Intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed in the DHB ligands.
