Anhydrous polymeric zinc(II) penta-noate.

ABSTRACT: The structure of the title compound, poly[di-?-penta-noato-zinc(II)], [Zn{CH(3)(CH(2))(3)COO}(2)](n), consists of a three-dimensional polymeric layered network with sheets parallel to the (100) plane, in which tetra-hedrally coordinated zinc(II) ions are connected by penta-noate bridges in a syn-anti arrangement. The hydro-carbon chains are in the fully extended all-trans conformation and are arranged in a tail-to-tail double bilayer.

The polyanion has approximate C(2v) symmetry. The two Pt-bound ?(2)-O atoms are protonated in the polyanion. The heteropolyanions form inversion-generated dimers, {[H(2)PtV(9)O(28)](2)}(10-), held together by each of the two ?(2)-O-H??(2)-O and ?(2)-O-H??(3)-O hydrogen bonds. The guanidinium cations are hydrogen bonded with the ?(2)- and terminal O atoms of the polyanion, connecting the polyanions into a three-dimensional network.

The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title complex, [Zn(C(3)H(2)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·5H(2)O, the Zn(II) cation displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry, being coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from different carboxyl-ate groups of the chelating malonate dianion. In the crystal, the complexes are linked into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network by both O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between water mol-ecules and the uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms of neighboring mol-ecules, and aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions between neighboring phenanthroline rings with centroid-centroid distances of 3.4654?(17) and 3.697?(2)?Å.

Project description:Single crystals of the title zinc porphyrinato complex, [Zn(C44H8F20N4)]·2C6H6, were obtained by the solvent evaporation method. The molecular complex exhibits point group symmetry with the central ZnII atom located on an inversion centre. The porphyrinato core is approximately planar, and the cation has no other ligating atoms than the four porphyrinato N atoms. π-π inter-actions between benzene solvent mol-ecules and [Zn(TFPP)] units lead to multilayer packing structures. In addition, inter-molecular C-H⋯F hydrogen bonding is observed between [Zn(TFPP)] mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Zn(C(5)H(6)O(4))(C(14)H(8)N(4))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), the Zn(2+) ion is coordinated by an N,N'-bidentate pyrazino-[2,3-f][1,10]phenanthroline (pyphen) ligand, a water molecule and a monodentate glutarate (glu) dianion. A symmetry-generated O:O'-bidentate glu dianion completes a distorted cis-ZnN(2)O(4) octa-hedral coordination geometry for the metal ion. The bridging glu species generates [110] polymeric chains in the crystal. Only monomers are found in the crystal. The coordination geometry can be described as trigonal bipyramidal, with the thiol-ate group in an equatorial position. The Zn-N and Zn-S distances are in the usual ranges for this type of complex.

Project description:The crystalline product (NH4)2[Zn(C3H7NO)(H2O)5]2[V10O28]·4H2O was success-fully isolated from an H2O/DMF solvent combination by evaporation at ambient temperature. The salt crystallizes in the P21/n space group. Imidazole, initially used in the synthesis but not present in the product, and DMF solvent appear to affect the synthesis and crystallization as structural-directing agents. In the title compound, the complex cation [Zn(H2O)5(DMF)]2+ acts as a counter-ion without being directly coordinated to the deca-vanadate anion. An extensive framework of hydrogen bonds integrates the whole architecture as evidenced by X-ray crystallography. The polyoxometalate [V10O28]6- lies on a center of symmetry while the complex cation [Zn(H2O)5(DMF)]2+ links three adjacent anions through a set of 2 + 2 + 3 hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, deca-methyl-cobaltocene, [Co(C(10)H(15))(2)], has been determined. High-quality single crystals were grown from a cold saturated hexa-methyl-disiloxane solution. The structure is related to the manganese and iron analogs. The molecule has D(5d) symmetry, with the Co atom in a crystallographic 2/m position. The cobalt-centroid(C(5)) distance is 1.71Å and the centroid(C(5))-Co-centroid(C(5)) angle is 180°, by symmetry.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Zn(5)(?(3)-OH)(2)(1,4-CDC)(4)](n) (1,4-CDCH(2) = 1,4-cyclo-hexa-nedicarboxylic acid) or [Zn(5)(C(8)H(10)O(4))(4)(OH)(2)](n), the asymmetric unit comprises one half of an octa-hedrally coordinated ZnO(6) complex unit (site symmetry ) and two five-coordinate ZnO(5) complex units, together with two ?(3)-bridging hydroxido ligands and four 1,4-CDC ligands (comprising two whole mol-ecules and four inversion-related half-molecules). The ZnO(6) unit consists of four carboxyl-ate O donors (two bridging) and two hydroxido O donors (both bridging three Zn centres) [Zn-O range 2.065?(3)-2.125?(3)?Å]. Each of the ZnO(5) units [one capped tetra-hedral, the other square-pyrimidal; Zn-O range 1.928?(3)-2.338?(3)?Å] has one hydroxido O donor and four carboxyl O donors from three different 1,4-CDC carboxyl-ate O donors (one bridging). Infinite (ZnO)(n) inorganic chains run parallel to the a axis and are interconnected by the organic ligands into a three-dimensional structure.
