Project description:In the title compound, (C(11)H(15)N(2))(2)[HgBr(4)], the tetra-coordinated Hg(II) center of the complex anion adopts a distorted tetra-hedral geometry [Hg-Br = 2.5755 (8)-2.623 (11) Å and Br-Hg-Br = 103.78 (19)-116.4 (3)°]. One of the Br atoms is disordered over two sites [site-occupancy factors = 0.51 (6) and 0.49 (6)]. The N-C-N angles in the cations are 110.7 (6) and 111.4 (7)°. In the crystal packing, a supra-molecular chain is formed via both weak inter-molecular C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds and π-π aromatic ring stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.803 (1) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(12)H(11)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, the Co(II) atom lies on an inversion center and is octa-hedrally coordinated by six O atoms from four water mol-ecules and two monodentate zwitterionic 2-methyl-benzimidazolium-1,3-diacetate ligands. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π inter-actions between the imidazole and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.9031 (17) Å] consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Zn(C(12)H(11)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, contains one-half of the complex mol-ecule and two uncoordin-ated water mol-ecules. The four water O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Zn(II) centre ( symmetry) form a distorted square-planar arrangement, while the distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry is completed by the O atoms of the zwitterionic 2-methyl-benzimidazolium-1,3-diacetate ligands in the axial positions. The benzimidazole ring system is planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.041?(3)?Å. Intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding results in the formation of a non-planar six-membered ring. In the crystal structure, strong intra- and inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. ?-? contacts between benzimidazole rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.899?(1)?Å] may further stabilize the structure.

Crystal structures of isotypic poly[bis-(benz-imid-azolium) [tetra-?-iodido-stannate(II)]] and poly[bis-(5,6-di-fluoro-benzimidazolium) [tetra-?-iodido-stannate(II)]].

Project description:The isostructural title compounds, {(C7H7N2)2[SnI4]} n , (1), and {(C7H5F2N2)2[SnI4]} n , (2), show a layered perovskite-type structure composed of anionic {[SnI4](2-)} n sheets parallel to (100), which are decorated on both sides with templating benzimidazolium or 5,6-di-fluoro-benzimidazolium cations, respectively. These planar organic heterocycles mainly form N-H?I hydrogen bonds to the terminal I atoms of the corner-sharing [SnI6] octa-hedra (point group symmetry 2) from the inorganic layer, but not to the bridging ones. This is in contrast to most of the reported structures of related compounds where ammonium cations are involved. Here hydrogen bonding to both types of iodine atoms and thereby a distortion of the inorganic layers to various extents is observed. For (1) and (2), all Sn-I-Sn angles are linear and no out-of-plane distortions of the inorganic layers occur, a fact of relevance in view of the material properties. The arrangement of the aromatic cations is mainly determined through the direction of the N-H?I hydrogen bonds. The coherence between organic bilayers along [100] is mainly achieved through van der Waals inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Pd(NH3)4]Cl2·4NH3, was crystallized in liquid ammonia from the salt Pd(en)Cl2 (en is ethylenediamine) and is isotypic with [Pt(NH3)4]Cl2·4NH3 [Grassl & Korber (2014 ?). Acta Cryst. E70, i31]. The Pd(2+) cation is coordinated by four ammonia mol-ecules, exhibiting a square-planar geometry. The chloride anions are surrounded by nine ammonia mol-ecules. These are either bound in the palladium complex or solvent mol-ecules. The packing of the ammonia solvent mol-ecules enables the formation of an extended network of N-H?N and N-H?Cl inter-actions with nearly ideal hydrogen-bonding geometry.

Project description:In the title dinuclear ionic complex, [Cd(2)(C(4)H(4)N(2))(H(2)O)(8)][Cd(2)(CH(3)CO(2))(8)(C(4)H(4)N(2))], the cation and anion are disordered equally over a site with symmetry mmm. The Cd(II) ions and the N atoms of the bridging pyrazine ligand lie on the inter-section of two crystallographic mirror planes. The C atoms of the bridging pyrazine ligand lie on one of these mirror planes, and the acetate groups and water mol-ecules lie across the inter-secting mirror planes. Each Cd(II) atom in the cation is five-coordinated by four O atoms from four water mol-ecules and one N atom from the bridging pyrazine ligand, whereas each Cd(II) in the anion is nine-coordinated by four pairs of O atoms from the bidentate acetate ligands and one N atom from the bridging pyrazine ligand. In the crystal structure, each anion is surrounded by eight nearest-neighbour cations and vice versa. The crystal structure is stabilized by ionic inter-actions as well as by C-H?O inter-actions.

Piperazinediium tetra-chloridozincate(II).

Project description:In the title compound, (C(4)H(12)N(2))[ZnCl(4)], the Zn atom adopts a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, the dication and dianion inter-act by way of N-H?Cl and N-H?(Cl,Cl) hydrogen bonds to result in a layered network propagating in (010). The hydrogen-bonding network is unbalanced, with three Cl atoms accepting two hydrogen bonds each and one Cl atom not accepting any hydrogen bonds: the latter shows the shortest Zn-Cl bond length. The crystal studied was found to be an inversion twin.
