Bis(2,2':6',2''-terpyridine)cobalt(II) bis-(tricyano-methanide).

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Co(C(15)H(11)N(3))(2)](C(4)N(3))(2), is built up from discrete [Co(terpy)(2)](2+) cations (terpy is 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine) and [C(CN)(3)](-) anions. In the cation, the Co(II) atom is coordinated by two terpy mol-ecules, giving a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The tricyano-methanide anions are not directly coordinated to the Co(II) atom, but some weak C-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the terminal N atoms of the tricyaomethanide ions and the terpyridine H atoms link anions and cations building a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(C(22)H(14)N(4))(2)]Cl(2), has been synthesized by a solvothermal reaction of the 4'-(4-cyano-phen-yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand with CoCl(2)·6H(2)O. The cobalt(II) ion is six-coordinated by two tridentate ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The benzene rings form dihedral angles of 30.02?(7) and 30.26?(7)° with the mean planes of the terpyridine ring systems. The chloride anions are statistically disordered over two positions with refined site occupancies of 0.601?(2) and 0.399?(2).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ru(C(15)H(11)N(3))(2)](ClO(4))(2)·0.5H(2)O, contains one ruthenium-terpiridine complex cation, two perchlorate anions and one half-mol-ecule of water. Face-to-face and face-to-edge ?-stacking inter-actions between terpyridine units [centroid-centroid distances = 3.793?(2) and 3.801?(2)? Å] stabilize the crystal lattice The partially occupied water mol-ecule inter-acts with two perchlorate ions via O-H?O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal lattice, the complex cations, perchlorate ion-water pairs and the second perchlorate anions are arranged into columns along b direction.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(N(3))(2)(C(6)H(6)N(4))(2)], the Co(II) atom lies on a centre of inversion and is bonded to two azide ions and two bidentate 2,2'-biimidizole ligands, giving a slightly distorted octa-hedral CoN(6) coordination geometry. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds exist between the 2,2'-biimidizole ligands and the azide ions, linking the complexes into sheets.

Project description:The title heteroleptic bis--terpyridine complex, [Ru(C(15)H(11)N(3))(C(17)H(11)N(3))](PF(6))(2)·2CH(3)CN, crystallized from an acetonitrile solution as a salt containing two hexa-fluoridophosphate counter-ions and two acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules. The Ru(II) atom has a distorted octa-hedral geometry due to the restricted bite angle [157.7?(3)°] of the two mer-arranged N,N',N''-tridendate ligands, viz. 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy) and 4'-ethynyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy'), which are essentially perpendicular to each other, with a dihedral angle of 87.75?(12)° between their terpyridyl planes. The rod-like acetyl-ene group lies in the same plane as its adjacent terpyridyl moiety, with a maximum deviation of only 0.071?(11)?Å from coplanarity with the pyridine rings. The mean Ru-N bond length involving the outer N atoms trans to each other is 2.069?(6)?Å at tpy and 2.070?(6)?Å at tpy'. The Ru-N bond length involving the central N atom is 1.964?(6)?Å at tpy and 1.967?(6)?Å at tpy'. Two of the three counter anions were refined as half-occupied.

In each cation, the Co(II) cation is coordinated by four N atoms from two biimidazole and two O atoms of two water mol-ecules; one Co atom is at a position of site symmetry m, the other at a position of site symmetry 2/m. Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(6)H(8)O(4))Cl(2)(C(15)H(11)N(3))(2)]·4H(2)O, the dinuclear copper complex is located on a crystallographic inversion centre. Each Cu atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment, with one O atom of an adipate dianion and three N atoms from the 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and one chlorine in the apical site. In addition, there is weak Cu-O inter-action opposite of the chlorine with a distance of 2.768?(1)?Å. The adipate ligand adopts a gauche-anti-gauche conformation. The inter-stitial water mol-ecules form hydrogen-bonded tertramers that are connected to the complexes via O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, thus leading to the formation of tightly hydrogen-bonded layers extending perpendicular to the b-axis direction.

The Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry, with one O atom of a succinate dianion and three N atoms of a 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and a water O atom located at the apical site. In the crystal structure, O-H?O hydrogen bonding links the mol-ecules into a chain parallel to the a axis.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(4)N(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2)O(2))]·2H(2)O, a novel tricyano-methanide complex, the Co(II) atom is located on an inversion center and has a distorted octa-hedral coordination with two 2,2'-bipyridyl dioxide (dpdo) mol-ecules and two trans tricyano-methanide (tcm) anions. The equatorial plane is formed by the four O atoms of the two chelating dpdo ligands, with one N atom of each of the two tcm ligands occupying an apical position. There is a disordered solvent water mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit (occupancy ratio 0.63:0.37). These water mol-ecules result in the formation of O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds, building a layer parallel to (100). The layers are linked by C-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, leading to a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Co(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two O atoms from two biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate (2,2'-dpa) ligands in a distorted planar geometry. Longer Co-O contacts [2.437?(3) and 2.552?(3)?Å] are formed to the second O atom of each coordinated carboxyl-ate group so that these groups approximate a bidentate coordination mode and the coordination geometry around Co(II) approaches distorted octa-hedral. The 2,2'-dpa ligands bridge two Co(II) atoms, forming a cyclic dinuclear complex around a centre of inversion.
