Project description:The title compound, (C(7)H(10)N)(3)[SbCl(5)]Cl·H(2)O, consists of 4-methyl-anilinium cations, Cl(-) and [SbCl(5)](2-) anions and water mol-ecules. The five Cl atoms bound to Sb [Sb-Cl = 2.4043?(9)-2.6262?(11)?Å] form a square-pyramidal coordination environment. In addition, two [SbCl(5)](2-) anions related by an inversion center are joined by Sb?Cl inter-actions [Sb?Cl = 3.7273?(14)?Å] into an [Sb(2)Cl(10)](4-) dimer with two bridging Cl atoms. The anions, water mol-ecules and ammonium groups of the cations are linked by N-H?Cl, N-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to the ac plane. The benzene rings of the 4-methyl-anilinium cations are packed between these layers.

In the crystal, two water molecules and two chloride anions are linked by weak O-H?Cl hydrogen bonding into tetra-mers that are located on centers of inversion. The H atoms of one of the methyl groups are disordered and were refined using a split model.

Project description:In the bimetallic cyanide-bridged title complex, [Fe(0.98)HoRu(0.02)(CN)(6)(C(3)H(7)NO)(4)(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O, the Ho(III) ion is in a slightly distorted square-anti-prismatic arrangement formed by seven O atoms from four dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecules and three water mol-ecules, and one N atom from a bridging cyanide group connected with the Fe(III) atom which is octa-hedrally coordinated by six cyanide groups. In the crystal, mol-ecules are held together through O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions to form a three-dimensional framework. Elemental analysis of one of the precursors and the crystal shows that there is a slight contamination of Fe by Ru. The Fe site displays, therefore, small substitutional disorder with site-occupancy factors Fe/Ru = 0.98:0.02. The two methyl groups of two dimethyl-formamide ligands are positionally disordered with site-occupancy factors of 0.44?(3):0.56?(3) and 0.44?(3):0.56?(3).

In addition, the bridging hydrogen squarate ligands connect the chains into a ladder structure via a third coordinating O atom. The crystal structure is further consolidated by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the anion and the solvent water mol-ecule.
