ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Er(C(15)H(11)O(2))(NO(3))(2)(C(18)H(15)N(3)O)]·CH(3)CN, has been synthesized from 4'-all-yloxy-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (altpy), dibenzoyl-methane and erbium nitrate. The distorted monocapped square anti-prismatic coordination polyhedron is formed by a bidentate dibenzoyl-methanide residue, a tridentate altpy ligand and two nitrate anions that act as bidentate ligands and occupy mutually trans sites.

Project description:The title compound, {[NdPt(CN)(4)(NO(3))(C(15)H(11)N(3))(H(2)O)(2)]·CH(3)CN·0.5C(15)H(11)N(3)}(n), was isolated from solution as a one-dimensional coordination polymer. The Nd(3+) site in the structure has a ninefold coordination with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, while the Pt(II) ion is coordinated by four cyanide groups in an almost regular square-planar geometry. Cis-bridging by the tetracyanidoplatinate anions links the Nd(3+) cations, forming the one-dimensional chains. Additionally, each Nd(3+) contains coordin-ation by two water mol-ecules, one tridentate 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine mol-ecule, and one bidentate nitrate anion. 2,2':6',2''-Terpyridine and acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules are incorporated between the chains, the former form π-stacking inter-actions (average inter-planar distance 3.33 Å) with terpyridine mol-ecules located in the chains. Relatively long Pt⋯Pt inter-actions [3.847 (1) Å] are observed in the structure. O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding interactions between the consituents consolidates the crystal packing.

Project description:The title complex, [CuFe(C(5)H(5))(C(20)H(14)N(3))(C(12)H(8)N(2))](ClO(4))(2)·C(2)H(3)N, consists of a mononuclear [Cu(C(12)H(8)N(2))(C(25)H(19)FeN(3))](2+) cation, two ClO(4) (-) anions (one of which is disordered over two positions with equal occupancy) and one CH(3)CN solvent mol-ecule. The Cu(II) center has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination with three N atoms of the 4'-ferrocenyl-2,2':6',2''- terpyridine (fctpy) ligand and one 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) N atom in the basal plane and a second phen N atom in the apical position with an axial distance of 2.254?(4)?Å. The disordered ClO(4) (-) anion is weakly coordin-ated to the Cu(II) ion with a Cu-O distance of 2.766?(11)?Å. The two cyclo-penta-dienyl rings of the ferrocenyl group are almost eclipsed with a deviation of 4.7?(1) °, and are involved in inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions with the outer pyridyl rings of the fctpy ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.759?(2)?Å.].

Project description:The title heteroleptic bis--terpyridine complex, [Ru(C(15)H(11)N(3))(C(17)H(11)N(3))](PF(6))(2)·2CH(3)CN, crystallized from an acetonitrile solution as a salt containing two hexa-fluoridophosphate counter-ions and two acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules. The Ru(II) atom has a distorted octa-hedral geometry due to the restricted bite angle [157.7?(3)°] of the two mer-arranged N,N',N''-tridendate ligands, viz. 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy) and 4'-ethynyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy'), which are essentially perpendicular to each other, with a dihedral angle of 87.75?(12)° between their terpyridyl planes. The rod-like acetyl-ene group lies in the same plane as its adjacent terpyridyl moiety, with a maximum deviation of only 0.071?(11)?Å from coplanarity with the pyridine rings. The mean Ru-N bond length involving the outer N atoms trans to each other is 2.069?(6)?Å at tpy and 2.070?(6)?Å at tpy'. The Ru-N bond length involving the central N atom is 1.964?(6)?Å at tpy and 1.967?(6)?Å at tpy'. Two of the three counter anions were refined as half-occupied.

Project description:In the title compound, [AuCl(2)(C(9)H(12)N)(2)][AuCl(4)]·C(2)H(3)N, there is a mirror plane passing through Au and the central C-C bond of the bipyridyl ligand in the cation, and through Au and two Cl atoms of the anion. A cis-AuCl(2)N(2) square-planar geometry for the cation and a square-planar AuCl(4) geometry for the anion result. The two C atoms and the N atom of the acetonitrile mol-ecule all have m site symmetries. In the crystal structure, weak C-H⋯Cl inter-actions may help to establish the packing.

Project description:The title complex, (C(8)H(20)N)[Co(CN)(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·CH(3)CN·1.5H(2)O, consists of tetra-ethyl ammonium cations, mononuclear [Co(III)bpy(CN)(4)](-) anions and uncoordinated water and acetonitrile mol-ecules. The Co(III) atom is six-coordinated by two 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) N atoms and four cyanide C atoms in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The acute bite angle of the chelating bpy [82.28?(8)°] is the main factor accounting for this distortion. In addition, the tetra-ethyl-ammonium cation is significantly disordered [occupancy ratio 0.611?(3):0.389?(3)]. The presence of water mol-ecules, one of which is disordered over two positions about an inversion center, results in the formation of a network of O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the cyanide N atoms.

Project description:In the title compound [Ru(2)(C(15)H(11)N(3))(2)(C(24)H(16)N(6))](PF(6))(4)·4CH(3)CN, two of the counter-ions and one of the solvent mol-ecules are disordered with occupancies for the major components between 0.57?(2) and 0.64?(1). The structure of the dinuclear tetracation exhibits significant distortion from planarity in the bridging 2,3,5,6-tetra-kis-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine (tppz) ligand, which has a saddle-like geometry with an average dihedral angle of 42.96?(18)° between adjacent pyridine rings. The metal-ligand coordination environment is nearly equivalent for the two Ru(II) atoms, which have a distorted octa-hedral geometry due to the restricted bite angle [157.57?(13)-159.28?(12)°] of their two mer-arranged tridendate ligands [2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy) and tppz] orthogonal to each other. At the peripheral tpy ligands, the average Ru-N bond distance is 2.072?(4)?Å for the outer N atoms trans to each other (N(outer)) and 1.984?(1)?Å for the central N atoms (N(central)). At the bridging tppz ligand, the average metal-ligand distances are significantly shorter [2.058?(4)?Å for Ru-N(outer) and 1.965?(1)?Å for Ru-N(central)] as a result of both the geometric constraints and the stronger ?-acceptor ability of the pyrazine-centered bridge. The dihedral angle between the two tpy planes is 27.11?(6)°. The intra-molecular linear distance between the two Ru atoms is 6.6102?(7)?Å.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(14)H(16)N(4)O(2) (2+)·2Cl(-)·CH(3)CN, weak inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds are found between the H atoms bound to the pyridine and amine N atoms and the chloride anions. The asymmetric unit consits of one half cationic mol-ecule which is located on a centre of inversion, one chloride anion in a general position and one half acetonitrile mol-ecule which is located on a twofold axis. Because of symmetry, the C-H hydrogens of the acetonitrile solvent mol-ecule are disordered over two orientations.

Two cations and one anion stack in a trimer with a unique Pt⋯Au distance of 3.3361 (5) Å and Pt⋯Pt contacts of 3.4335 (6) Å. The remaining [AuBr(2)](-) anion forms no close contacts.
