ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CuCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·[CuCl(2)], contains two complex Cu(II) cations and two cuprate(I) anions. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two phenanthroline (phen) mol-ecules and one chloride anion in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Cu(II) complex cations form layers through ?-? stacking [interplanar distance = 3.481?(2)?Å]. The dichloridocuprate(I) anions are located between the layers, forming a sandwich-like structure.

Project description:The title complex salt, [CuCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)][Tb(NO(3))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))], consists of discrete [CuCl(phen))(2)](+) cations and [Tb(NO(3))(4)(phen)](-) anions (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline). The [CuCl(phen))(2)](+) cation contains a five-coordinate Cu(2+) ion, ligated by two bidentate phen ligands and one Cl(-) ion, exhibiting a distorted CuN(4)Cl trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the [Tb(NO(3))(4)(phen)](-) anion, the Tb(3+) ion is coordinated by one chelating phen ligand and four chelating nitrates, forming a distorted TbN(2)O(8) bicapped dodeca-hedral configuration. The anions and cations are assembled into a three-dimensional network by weak C-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. There is also a significant ?-? stacking inter-action, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.635?(2)?Å.

Project description:The title complex [CuCl(C12H8N2)2]2[Fe(CN)5(NO)]·C3H7NO, consists of discrete [Cu(phen)2Cl](+) cations (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline), [Fe(CN)5NO](2-) anions and one di-methyl-formamide (DMF) solvent mol-ecule of crystallization per asymmetric unit. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two phenanthroline ligands and one chloride ion in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The dihedral angle between the phen ligands is 77.92 (7)°. The cation charge is balanced by a disordered nitro-prusside counter-anion with the Fe(II) atom located on an inversion center with a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯N and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds connect anions and cations into a two-dimensional network parallel to (100). In addition, π-π stacking inter-actions are observed with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.565 (2)-3.760 (3)Å. The di-methyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule was refined as disordered about an inversion center.

Project description:In the title complex, [CuCl(C(16)H(16)N(2)O(2))(2)]ClO(4), the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two chelating 2,9-dieth-oxy-1,10-phenanthroline ligands and one chloride ion in a slightly disorted trigonal-bipyramidal environment. Two N atoms and the Cl atom are in equatorial positions while the remaining two N atoms occupy apical sites, the equatorial Cu-N bonds being significantly longer than the two apical Cu-N bonds. The N=C-O-C torsion angles involving the four eth-oxy groups are in the range 161.5?(8) to 177.0?(5)°. In the crystal structure, there are significant ?-? stacking inter-actions between inversion-related rings of phenanthroline groups with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.649?(4)-3.790?(4)?Å.

Project description:In the title complex, [CoCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)]Cl·2.5H(2)O, the Co(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms of two bis-chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, one water mol-ecule and a chloride ligand in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The dihedral angle between the two phen ligands is 84.21?(3)°. In the crystal structure, complex mol-ecules and chloride ions are linked into centrosymmetric four-component clusters by inter-molecular O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Of the 2.5 solvent water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, two were refined as disordered over two sites with fixed occupancies of ratios 0.50:0.50 and 0.60:0.40, while another was refined with half occupancy.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated in a square-planar fashion by the two N atoms of a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by two water mol-ecules trans to the N atoms. The coordination sphere of the metal atom is augmented by O atoms of two weakly bonded perchlorate anions, thus yielding a strongly distorted CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedral environment. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and the perchlorate anions. In addition, the organic mol-ecules are associated by π-π stacking inter-actions between symmetry-equivalent anti-parallel non-nitro-gen aromatic rings, with inter-planar distances of 3.543 (2) Å.

The apical position is occupied by the central N atom of the dicyanamide ligand. The dicyanamide N atoms are each involved in hydrogen bonds to water mol-ecules. There are also hydrogen bonds between both the water mol-ecules and their centrosymmetric pairs, creating a hydrogen-bonded chain along the b-axis direction.

Project description:The title compound, [CuBr(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)][N(CN)(2)], is formed of discrete [CuBr(phen)(2)](+) complex cations and uncoordinated [N(CN)(2)](-) anions (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline). The Cu atom is five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry by two phen mol-ecules and one bromide ligand, which coordinates in the equatorial plane at a distance of 2.5228 (4) Å and lying along with the Cu and the amide N atoms on a twofold rotation axis. The two axial Cu-N distances [1.9926 (15) Å] are slightly shorter than the two equatorial Cu-N bonds [2.0979 (15) Å]. The cations and anions are linked by O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds across a center of inversion, forming a hydrogen-bonded dimeric association. The dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two orientations in a 0.56 (1):0.44 (1) ratio.
