ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Pt(C(11)H(8)N)Cl(C(2)H(6)OS)], the S atom of dimethyl sulfoxide is trans to the pyridyl N atom [Pt-S = 2.2181?(11)?Å] and the chlorido ligand is trans to the carbon donor of 2-(2-pyrid-yl)phenyl [Pt-Cl = 2.4202?(10)?Å]. The [2-(2-pyrid-yl)phen-yl]platinum(II) unit forms a one-dimensional stack along the c axis with two independent inter-planar separations of 3.44?(9) and 3.50?(2)?Å.

Project description:In the title complex, [Pt(C(6)H(4)NO(2))Cl(C(2)H(6)OS)], the Pt(II) ion is in a distorted square-planar environment defined by the N and O atoms from the chelating pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate (pic) anionic ligand, one S atom of the dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule and one Cl ion. The complex is disposed about a crystallographic mirror plane parallel to the ac plane passing through all the atoms of the complex except the methyl atoms of the dimethyl sulfoxide. The mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the b axis with a Pt?Pt distance of 4.9508?(5)?Å. Within the column, inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings are present, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 5.153?(4)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, [Pt(C(13)H(10)ClN(2)S)Cl], contains a Pt atom tetra-coordinated by a benzene C, a diazene N, a Cl and an S atom in an approximately square-planar geometry. The mol-ecules dimerize through a nonbonded S⋯S inter-action [S⋯S = 3.523 (18) Å]. Monoclinic polymorph of chlorido-(dimethyl sulfoxide-κO)tri-phenyl-tin(IV).

Project description:The crystal structure of the title tin complex, [Sn(C6H5)3Cl(C2H6OS)], (I), has been reported with one mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit in an ortho-rhom-bic cell [Kumar et al. (2009 ▸). Acta Cryst. E65, m1602-m1603]. While using SnPh3Cl as a starting material for a reaction for which the products were recrystallized over a very long time (six months) from dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), a new polymorph was obtained for (I), with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of a monoclinic cell. The coordination geometry of the Sn centres remains unchanged, with the Cl- ion and the DMSO mol-ecule in the apical positions and the phenyl C atoms in the equatorial positions of a trigonal bipyramid. The main difference between the polymorphs is the relative orientation of the phenyl rings in the equatorial plane, reflecting a degree of free rotation of these groups about their Sn-C bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into [010] chains mediated by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions.

The coordination polyhedron of the Fe(III) atoms can be described as distorted octa-hedral, with four Fe-O, one Fe-N and one Fe-Cl coordination bonds. The L ligand is not planar, the dihedral angle between the 2-(oxidometh-yl)phen-yl]imino and 4-nitro-2-(imino-meth-yl)phenolate planes being 48.54?(9)°. The solvent DMSO molecule is disordered over two orientations with equal occupancy.
