ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cd(2)Cl(2)(NCS)(2)(C(15)H(15)NO(2))(2)](n), contains the Schiff base 2-[(4-methyl-phenyl-imino)meth-yl]-6-methoxy-phenol (HL) ligand, one thio-cyanate and one chloride ligand coordinated to a cadmium centre. The cadmium centers are linked to each other via two thio-cyanate and two chloride bridges alternately, resulting in centrosymmetric zigzag chains running parallel to the a axis. The Cd(II) coordination environment contains two Cl atoms, one thio-cyanate (SCN) S atom, one isothio-cyanate (NCS) N atom and two O atoms from the HL ligand. The Schiff base ligand is in the trans conformation.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Cd(3)Cl(6)(C(15)H(15)NO(2))(2)(CH(4)O)(2)](n), is based on a layered zigzag polymeric chain along the c axis. The Cd(II) ions are linked by double chlorine bridges alternating between one CdCl(4)(CH(3)OH)(2) and two CdCl(4)(C(15)H(15)NO(2)) octa-hedral coordination units. Additional intrachain N-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bond interactions stabilize this arrangement.

Project description:The title compound, [Sn(2)(CH(3)O)(2)Cl(6)(C(3)H(7)NO)(2)], contains two hexa-coordinated Sn(IV) atoms symmetrically bridged by two deprotonated methanol ligands, with an inversion center in the middle of the planar Sn(2)O(2) ring. Geometric parameters are in the usual ranges. The cadmium cation is octa-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms at equatorial sites and two O atoms from two ligands at the axial sites. The material is composed of one-dimensional extended polymeric chains in which two Cl atoms bridge Cd atoms. The crystal structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond.

The Cd(II) atoms are each coordinated by four N atoms from two pyridine ligands and two thio-cyanato anions, each in a mutually cis orientation, and by two S atoms from two adjacent thio-cyanato anions within a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The Cd(II) atoms are μ-1,3-bridged via the thio-cyanato anions into polymeric chains parallel to [001]. The Cd(II)⋯Cd(II) intra-chain separations range between 5.9688 (6) and 6.0195 (6) Å, whereas the shortest Cd(II)⋯Cd(II) inter-chain separations are 7.8272 (7) and 8.6312 (6) Å.
