ABSTRACT: The absolute configuration of the octa-hedral fac-CoN(3)O(3) title complex, [Co(C(5)H(8)NO(2))(3)]·3H(2)O, has been determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. A three-dimensional network of hydrogen bonds is observed between the proline carboxyl-ate groups and the three uncoordinated water mol-ecules.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, (C(12)H(9)N(2))(3)[Fe(CN)(6)]·C(2)H(5)OH·3H(2)O, consists of two half [Fe(CN)(6)](3-) anions located on inversion centers, three 1,10-phenanthrolin-1-ium cations, [Hphen](+), an ethanol and three water solvent mol-ecules. The average Fe-C and C-N bond lengths are 1.942?(6) and 1.154?(3)?Å, respectively, while the Fe-C-N angles deviate slightly from linearity with values ranging from 177.8?(2) to 179.7?(2)°. The Fe(III) atoms adopt a distorted octa-hedral geometry. All the species are linked through O-H?N, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, resulting in a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [Fe(C(7)H(7)N(2)O(2))(3)]·CH(3)CH(2)OH, the Fe(III) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral O(6) environment with the three hydroxamate O atoms (and the three carbonyl O atoms) arranged in a fac configuration and one of the hydroxamate ligands being puckered. The methyl C atom of the ethanol solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.626?(13) and 0.374?(13), respectively. The cocrystallized ethanol mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to one of the hydroxamate O atoms. O-H?O and N-H?O inter-actions generate infinite three-dimensional networks along [100], [010] and [001].

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(3)][Fe(C(2)O(4))(3)]·H(2)O, con-sists of two discrete tris-(chelate) metal ions (Co(III)N(6) and Fe(III)O(6) chromophores) and a water mol-ecule. The structure is highly symmetrical; the Co(III) and Fe(III) ions occupy positions with site symmetry 3.2. The coordination polyhedra of the metal atoms have a nearly octa-hedral geometry with noticeable trigonal distortions. The Co-N and Fe-O bond lengths are equal by symmetry, viz. 1.981?(2) and 1.998?(4)?Å, respectively. The cations and anions are arranged alternately along their threefold rotation axes parallel to [001], forming chains that are packed in a hexa-gonal manner. The water mol-ecules occupy voids between the chains. The crystal under investigation was an inversion twin.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Co(C(5)H(6)NO(4))(3)], consists of a Co(III) ion octahedrally coordinated by three bidentate 3-nitro-pentane-2,4-dionate ligands. The complex was prepared via the nitration of tris-(2,4-penta-nedionato-?(2)O,O')cobalt(III) with a solution of copper(II) nitrate in glacial acetic acid. The central C atom and the nitro group of one 3-nitro-pentane-2,4-dionate ligand are disordered over two positions with an occupancy ratio of 0.848?(4):0.152?(4). A second nitro group is also disordered over two orientations with an occupancy ratio of 0.892?(7):0.108?(7). Two of the ligand methyl groups form C-H?O inter-actions with two different nitro groups to form chains running along the c axis. Additional C-H?O inter-actions are found between ligand methyl groups and the cobalt-bound O atoms, also resulting in the formation of chains along the c axis.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(3)]Cl(3)·4H(2)O, contains discrete [Co(bpy)(3)](3+) cations (bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine), Cl(-) anions and water mol-ecules. The [Co(bpy)(3)](3+) complex cation exhibits C(2) symmetry with the twofold axis through the central Co atom and bis-ecting one bpy ligand and one of the Cl(-) anions. The four solvent water mol-ecules and the remaining two Cl(-) anions lie on a mirror plane. Hydrogen-bond inter-actions define a two-dimensional layer structure parallel to (100), which consists of seven-membered [Cl(2)(H(2)O)(5)], eight-membered [Cl(4)(H(2)O)(4)] and ten-membered [Cl(2)(H(2)O)(8)] rings.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(3)N(2)H(5))(3)[Dy(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)]·3H(2)O, contains a mononuclear Dy(III) complex with the rare earth metal cation in a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic environment. The Dy(III) ion is in each case O,N,O'-chelated by three tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions. Three protonated imidazole mol-ecules act as counter-cations and three lattice water mol-ecules are also present. Numerous N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonding inter-actions, some of which are bifurcated, help to stabilize the packing of the structure.

The W (..2 site symmetry) metal center is coordinated by eight cyanide ligands, resulting in a dodeca-hedral conformation with W-C distances in the range 1.165?(3)-2.176?(3)?Å. The cations and anions are linked into a three-demensional structure by weak C-H?N hydrogen bonds.
