A chiral three-dimensional network in poly[μ-4,4'-bipyridine-di-μ-formato-cadmium(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cd(HCOO)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Cd(II) ion, located on a position with 2.22 site symmetry, is surrounded by two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands and four formate ligands in a distorted octahedral CdN(2)O(4) coordination. The 4,4'-bipyridine ligands bridge the metal ions, forming one-dimensional chains along different directions, which are further connected by formate ligands into a topologically (10(10).12(4).14)(10)(3) three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title polymer, [Cd(C(16)H(10)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), the Cd(II) ion is in a strongly distorted octa-hedral geometry, being coordinated by two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, three carboxylate O atoms from two symmetry-related trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions and one water mol-ecule. The stilbene ligand lies on an inversion centre at the midpoint of the central C=C bond. This feature generates the polymeric structure: adjacent Cd(II) ions are bridged by trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions, giving rise to a one-dimensional structure. The coordinated water mol-ecule is involved in interchain O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Weak C-H⋯O inter-actions between uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms of fumaric acid and water mol-ecules contribute to the crystal packing stability.

Project description:The title complex, [CoNa(CO5P)(H2O)5]n, was obtained by reacting sodium phosphono-formate with cobalt nitrate. The complex contains cobalt(II) and sodium ions, which are bridged by the O atoms of two aqua ligands. The Co(II) ion is octahedrally coordinated by three phosphonoformato ligands (one bi- and the other monodentate) and by two O atoms from the bridging aqua ligands. The sodium cation is hexa-coordinated by six O atoms from four bridging and two terminal aqua ligands. The complex mol-ecules are linked to give a three-dimensional structure by phosphono-formate ligands bridging Co(II) atoms and water mol-ecules establishing cobalt-sodium bridges. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the aqua ligands and all O atoms of the phosphono-formato ligand and neighbouring aqua ligands help to consolidate the packing.

Two of the O atoms originate from one naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anion, whereas the remaining two O atoms derive from two symmetry-equivalent naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions. Project description:In the title compound, [Ag(C(8)H(5)O(7)S)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Ag atom is tetra-coordinated by two 4,4'-bipydidine (4,4'-bipy) N atoms and two monodentate sulfonate O atoms of the 5-sulfoisophthalic acid (H(3)sip) ligands. Adjacent Ag atoms are bonded through four sulfonate O atoms, forming a dinuclear unit with an Ag⋯Ag separation of 3.384 (5) Å; they are further linked together by the 4,4'-bipy lignds into a chain. Project description:The title one-dimensional coordination network, {[Eu(2)(NO(3))(6)(C(10)H(8)N(2)O(2))(3)]·2CH(2)Cl(2)}(n), is isostructural with the previously reported Tb and Tl coordination networks and to its Gd analog. The Eu(III) cation is coordinated in a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic fashion by nine O atoms from three bridging 4,4'-bipyridine N,N'-dioxide ligands and three chelating nitrate anions. None of the atoms lie on a special position, but there is an inversion center located between the rings of one of the ligands. The network topology is ladder-like, and each ladder inter-acts with six neighboring ladders through C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The packing motif of the ladders allows for the formation of channels that run parallel to the a axis; these channels are filled with CH(2)Cl(2) solvent mol-ecules that inter-act with the ladders through C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
