ABSTRACT: In the crystal of the title polymeric compound, [CdBr(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))](n), the Cd(II) cation is located on a twofold rotation axis. The Cd(II) cation is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry formed by two N atoms from the 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand and four bridging Br(-) anions. The bridging function of the Br(-) anions leads to a polymeric chain running along the c axis.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(14)H(8)O(5))(C(12)H(12)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry. Two N atoms of the chelating 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (dbp) ligand and two O atoms of two different 2,2'-oxydibenzoic (odb) ligands occupy the basal plane while the water O atom completes the square-pyramidal geometry at the apical site. The non-water N(2)O(2) donor atoms are nearly coplanar, with a mean deviation from the least-squares plane of 0.0518?(11)?Å and the Cu atom is displaced by 0.1507?(11)?Å from this plane towards the apical water O atom. Further coordination via the 2,2'-oxydibenzoate anions forms a one-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to [010]. In the crystal structure, O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(4)O(5))(C(12)H(12)N(2))], the Cd(II) cation is coordinated by three 5-hy-droxy-isophthalate anions and one 5,5'-bimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted CdO(4)N(2) octa-hedral geometry. The 5-hy-droxy-isophthalate anions bridge the Cd cations, forming a two-dimensional polymeric complex parallel to (100). In the complex, the hy-droxy group is linked to the uncoordinated carb-oxy-O atom via an O-H?O hydrogen bond. Weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds are also present in the crystal structure. One of the methyl groups is disordered over two positions in a 0.536?(11):0.464?(11) ratio.

Project description:The title complex, [Cd(C(2)HN(9))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(10)H(8)N(2)·H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal reaction conditions. The asymmetric unit contains the cadmium complex, half a 2,2'-bipyridine solvent mol-ecule and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from an HBTA(-) anion ligand [where H(2)BTA is N,N-bis-(1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)amine], forming an octa-hedral geometry. The complex is linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H?N and N-H?N hydrogen bonds and by the stacking inter-actions of rings, with distances of 3.5-3.7?Å between the atoms of two parallel 2,2'-bipyridine rings.
