Hexaaqua-magnesium(II) bis-[4-(3-pyrid-yl)pyrimidine-2-sulfonate] tetra-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](C(9)H(6)N(3)O(3)S)(2)·4H(2)O, contains half of a centrosymmetric cation, one 4-(3-pyrid-yl)pyrimidin-2-sulfonate anion and two solvent water mol-ecules. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the cations, anions and water mol-ecules into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. The crystal packing also exhibits inter-molecular π-π inter-actions between the aromatic rings of the anions with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.604 (2) Å.

The Mg(II) ion is coordinated by six water mol-ecules in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the anion, the two five-membered heterocycles are twisted from the central benzene ring by 4.34 (11) and 3.20 (10)°. In the crystal, O-H⋯N, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds generate a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The structure of the title complex, [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](C(10)H(15)O(4)S)(2), consists of regular octa-hedral [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cations and d-camphor-10-sulfonate anions. A three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture is formed via hydrogen-bond inter-actions [O-H⋯O = 2.723 (2)-2.833 (2) Å] to give alternating layers of [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cations and d-camphor-10-sulfonate anions. The title compound is isomorphous with the zinc, copper, cadmium and nickel analogues.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(10)H(8)N(3)O(2))(2)]·4H(2)O, the Cu(II) ion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination formed by four O [Cu-O = 2.051 (3)-2.083 (4) Å] and two N [Cu-N = 1.985 (4) and 1.996 (4) Å] atoms from two tridentate bis-(1-oxo-2-pyrid-yl)aminate ligands. In the two ligands, the pyridyl rings form dihedral angles of 21.0 (1) and 15.5 (1)°. The crystal packing exhibits an extensive network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions proved by short distances of 3.650 (1) and 3.732 (2) Å between the centroids of pyridyl rings of neighbouring mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound, [Zn(C(6)H(4)N(5))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, was synthesized by the hydro-thermal reaction of Zn(CH(3)COO)(2)·2H(2)O with 3-(2H-tetra-zol-5-yl)pyridine. The Zn(II) ion is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by two pyridine N atoms from two 5-(3-pyrid-yl)tetra-zolide ligands and four coordinated water mol-ecules in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle between the pyridine and tetra-zole rings is 9.920 (7)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the tetra-zole group N atoms, the aqua ligands and solvent water mol-ecules.

The Mg(II) cation is coordinated by six water mol-ecules, exhibiting a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination. A two-dimensional network parallel to (001) is formed via extensive hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the water mol-ecules as donors and the tetra-zole N and carboxyl-ate O atoms of the anion as acceptors. The shortest distance between two adjacent parallel benzene rings is 3.315 (2) Å. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the tetra-zole ring is 40.98 (2)°.

The Zn(II) atom, located on a centre of symmetry, is coordinated by six water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The hexa-methyl-enetetra-mine mol-ecule is not coordinated to Zn(II) but links the Zn complexes via three O-H?N hydrogen bonds. The remaining N atom of the hexa-methyl-enetetra-mine mol-ecule is hydrogen-bonded to a solvent water mol-ecule.
