(+)-[1-(4-Methoxy-benz-yl)pyrrolidin-2-yl]diphenyl-methanol.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(25)H(27)NO(2), was obtained as the product of a Grignard reagent and an inter-mediate ester synthesized from L-(-)-proline. The asymmetric unit contains two independent mol-ecules, both of which feature an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond. In one of the mol-ecules, the pyrrolidine ring is disordered over two orientations in a 0.63?(3):0.37?(3) ratio.

Project description:In the title compound, C(24)H(25)NO, the phenyl and diphenyl-methanol substituents are syn to each other. The pyrrolidine ring has an envelope conformation with the flap atom being the C atom bearing the phenyl substituent. The hy-droxy group forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond with the pyrrolidine N atom, and the phenyl rings lie to same side of the mol-ecule. The crystal packing features C-H?? inter-actions. Two slightly displaced co-planar orientations were found for one of the phenyl rings; the major component had a site-occupancy factor of 0.782?(15).

The meth-oxy groups are coplanar with the benzene ring to which they are attached [C-C-O-C = 1.0?(6)°]. Project description:A novel N-heterocyclic carbene derivative, C(28)H(33)N(2)O(3) (+)·Br(-)·H(2)O, was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, (1)H and (13)C-NMR and IR spectroscopy and a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. Ions of the title compound are linked by ??? stacking inter-actions (face-face separation 3.441?Å) and C-H?Br and O-H?Br inter-actions. Intra- and intermolecular C-H?O inter-actions are also present. The C-N bond lengths for the compound [1.329?(3), 1.325?(3), 1.389?(3) and 1.391?(3)?Å] are all shorter than the average single C-N bond length of 1.48?Å, thus showing varying degrees of double-bond character.
