Cis-Dichloridobis(dimethoxy-phenyl-phosphine)palladium(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [PdCl(2)(C(8)H(11)O(2)P)(2)], has a comparable structure to those of related palladium dichloride complexes containing trimethyl phosphinite and methyl diphenyl phosphinite. The Pd atom is located on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis: thus, there is just one half-mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The structure is isomorphous with the platinum analogue cis-[PtCl(2){P(OMe)(2)Ph}(2)].

Project description:The title compound, [Pd(2)Cl(4)(C(8)H(11)O(2)P)(2)], is binuclear and disposed about a crystallographic centre of symmetry with a Pd?Pd distance of 3.4662?(17)?Å. It has a similar geometry to that observed in the triphenyl-phosphite and triphenyl-phosphine analogues. The Pd-P bond length is ca 0.04?Å shorter than those in mononuclear PdCl(2)(P(OMe)(2)Ph)(2), possibly due to the lower trans-influence of the bridging Cl(-) compared to a single-bonded Cl(-) atom.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [PdCl(2)(C(11)H(9)N)(2)], contains one half of a neutral Pd(II) complex, with the complete mol-ecule generated by the application of a twofold rotation axis; the N-Pd-N atoms lie on the axis. The Pd(II) ion has a trans-Cl(2)N(2) square-planar coordination geometry defined by two N atoms from two 4-phenyl-pyridine ligands and two Cl(-) anions. In the refinement, the pyridine ring and the phenyl ring were found to be disordered over two sites with the site-occupancy factors being 0.53 (2) and 0.51 (1), respectively, for the major components.

In the crystal structure, each Ru(II) ion is coordinated by two Cl [Ru-Cl = 2.4308 (7) and 2.4139 (7) Å], two N [Ru-N = 2.016 (2) and 2.003 (2) Å], and two P [Ru-P = 2.3688 (7) and 2.3887 (7) Å] atoms in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Packing inter-actions include typical C-H⋯π contacts involving phenyl groups as well as weak hydrogen bonds between CH(3)CN methyl H atoms and Cl or solvent CH(3)CN N atoms.
