Penta-carbon-yl{3-[(2S)-1-methyl-pyrrolidin-2-yl]pyridine}tungsten(0).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [W(C(10)H(14)N(2))(CO)(5)], contains five carbonyl ligands and a nicotine ligand in an octa-hedral arrangement around the tungsten atom. The metal atom shows cis angles in the range 87.30 (16)-94.2 (2)°, and trans angles between 175.2 (2) and 178.1 (4)°. The W-CO bond trans to the pyridine N atom [1.987 (6) Å] is noticeably shorter than the others, which range between 2.036 (3) and 2.064 (3) Å, possibly due to the well-known trans effect. The distance between the W atom and the pyridine N atom is 2.278 (4) Å.

Project description:In the title complex, [W(C(3)H(6)N(2)S)(CO)(5)], the W atom displays an octa-hedral coordination with five CO mol-ecules and an imidazolidine-2-thione mol-ecule. The W(CO)(5) unit is coordinated by the cyclic thione ligand through a W-S dative bond. The W-S and C-S bond lengths are 2.599?(2) and 1.711?(9)?Å, respectively. This last distance is significantly longer than that of free cyclic thio-ureas. The geometry of the title compound suggests sp(3)-hybridization of the S atom caused by the greatly polarized linkage W-S-C bond angle, which is close to tetra-hedral [109.50?(3)°]. In the crystal packing, N-H?O and N-H?S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions stabilize the structure and build up chains parallel to [101].

Project description:In the title compound, C(24)H(25)NO, the phenyl and diphenyl-methanol substituents are syn to each other. The pyrrolidine ring has an envelope conformation with the flap atom being the C atom bearing the phenyl substituent. The hy-droxy group forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond with the pyrrolidine N atom, and the phenyl rings lie to same side of the mol-ecule. The crystal packing features C-H?? inter-actions. Two slightly displaced co-planar orientations were found for one of the phenyl rings; the major component had a site-occupancy factor of 0.782?(15).
