Catena-Poly[[chloridocadmium(II)]bis-{μ-1-[(2-ethyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]-1H-benzotriazole}[chloridocadmium(II)]di-μ-chlorido].

ABSTRACT: In the polymeric title complex, [CdCl(2)(C(12)H(13)N(5))](n), the Cd(II) atom is five-coordinated by two N atoms from two bridging 1-[(2-ethyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]-1H-benzotriazole (bmei) ligands, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Cd(II) atoms are connected alternately by the Cl atoms and bmei ligands, leading to a zigzag chain extending parallel to [011]. π-π inter-actions, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.3016 (3) Å, help to stabilize the crystal packing.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {(C(4)H(7)N(2))[CdCl(3)(H(2)O)]}(n), contains one 1-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium cation, one Cd(II) atom, three Cl atoms and one water mol-ecule. Adjacent Cd ions are inter-connected alternately by paired Cl(-) bridges to generate an infinite one-dimensional coordination chain along the b axis. In the chain, the crystallographically unique Cd(II) atom, with a distorted octa-hedral geometry, is coordinated by five Cl(-) ions and one water mol-ecule. Intra-chain O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anionic chains consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The centrosymmetric dinuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(2)Cl(4)(C(24)H(21)N(5)O(4))(2)], was synthesized by the reaction of CuCl(2)·2H(2)O with the tripodal ligand 2,2'-[3-(1H-imid-azol-4-ylmeth-yl)-3-aza-pentane-1,5-di-yl]diphthalimide (L). Each of the Cu(II) ions is coordinated by two N atoms from the ligand, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom. The Cu(II) coordination can be best be described as a transition state between four- and five-coordination, since one of the bridging Cl atoms has a much longer Cu-Cl bond distance [2.7069 (13) Å] than the other [2.2630 (12) Å]. In addition, the Cu⋯Cu distance is 3.622 (1) Å. The three-dimensional structrure is generated by N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.658 (4) and 4.020 (4) Å].

Project description:The crystal structure of the title polymeric complex, [CuCl(2)(C(3)H(6)N(4)O)(2)](n), was obtained by the Rietveld refinement from laboratory X-ray powder diffraction data collected at room temperature. The unique Cu(II) ion lies on an inversion center and is in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. In the hydroxy-ethyl group, all H atoms, the O atom and its attached C atom are disordered over two positions; the site occupancy factors are ca 0.6 and 0.4. The OH group is involved in an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond.

Two L ligands are related by a centre of symmetry and bridge Mn(II) ions, forming a positively charged polymeric chain in [101]. Project description:In the title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [ZnCl(2)(C(12)H(10)N(4))](n), the Zn(II) atom (site symmetry 2) is coordinated by two chloride ions and two 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-yl)benzene ligands, generating a distorted tetra-hedral ZnCl(2)N(2) geometry for the metal ion. The bridging ligand, which is completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry, links the Zn(II) atoms into zigzag chains propagating in [101]. A two-dimensional supra-molecular network stacked parallel to [210] is finally formed by linking these dimers through weak π-π stacking inter-actions between the pyridine rings and benzene rings of adjacent dimers, with a plane-to-plane distance of 3.36 (6) Å and a centroid-centroid distance of 3.67 (2) Å. One of the thio-cyanate S atoms is equally disordered over two positions.
