Trans-Chlorido(phenanthren-9-yl)bis-(triphenyl-phosphane)nickel(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Ni(C(14)H(9))Cl(C(18)H(15)P)(2)], was synthesized from the reaction between 9-chloro-phenanthrene, NiCl(2)·6H(2)O and triphenyl-phosphane in ethanol. The bond angles around the Ni(II) atom indicate that it exists in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(17)H(11)ClN)Cl(C(3)H(9)P)(2)], was obtained as a product of the reaction of [Ni(PMe(3))(4)] with a molar equivalent of 2,6-dichloro-N-naphthyl-benzaldehyde-amine in diethyl ether. The ? parameter is 0.3, indicating that the coordination geometry is square-pyramidal. The Ni(II) atom lies in the center of a square pyramidal in which one C, one Cl and two P atoms form the basal plane, with the imine N atom in an apical position. Two P-atom donors are located in trans positions.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Os(C(6)H(7)S)Cl(C(18)H(15)P)(2)(CO)], confirms the formulation as an osmabenzene. There is a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment at the Os(II) ion, with the triphenyl-phosphane ligands mutually trans and the chloride cis to the carbon bearing the -SMe substituent. Within the metallacyclic ring, the C-C distances are appropriate for aromatic bonds and the two Os-C distances are shorter than typical Os-C single bonds. The maximum deviation from the least-squares plane through the osmabenzene ring occurs for the carbon bearing the SMe substituent [0.1037?(18)?Å].

Project description:There are two independent mol-ecules with similar configurations in the asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Pd(C(4)H(3)N(2))I(C(18)H(15)P)(2)]. In each mol-ecule, the geometry around the Pd atom is distorted square-planar, with the Pd atom displaced by 0.0549?(12) and 0.0734?(13)?Å from the least-squares plane of the I-P-P-C atoms. The PPh(3) ligands are in trans positions, with P-Pd-P angles of 173.12?(4) and 170.29?(4)°, while the pyrazinyl ligands and I atoms, also trans to each other, form C-Pd-I angles of 179.38?(12) and 178.44?(12)°. In the crystal, C-H?? inter-actions occur, resulting in a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

The -C CH and the chlorine ligands are disordered over two equivalent positions (0.5 occupancy each). The coordination geometry is distorted octa-hedral, with the -C CH fragment and the Cl ligand in trans positions. The four P atoms occupy the equatorial plane of the octa-hedron and the chloride and acetyl-ide ligands the axial positions.
