ABSTRACT: In the title monomeric rare earth complex, [LiNd(C(19)H(40)N(3)Si(2))(2)Cl(2)(C(4)H(8)O)(2)], the [(Me(3)Si)(2)NC(NCy)(2)](2)Nd(+) (Me is methyl, Cy is cyclo-hex-yl) and Li(THF)(2) (+) units (THF is tetra-hydro-furan) are connected by two bridging Cl atoms. The Nd(3+) ion is coordinated by two guanidinate ligands and two Cl atoms, forming a distorted chelating octa-hedral geometry. The Li(+) ion is four-coordinated by two Cl atoms and two O atoms from THF mol-ecules in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry.

The geometry of the resulting five-coordinated Mg(2+) ion is a very distorted square-based pyramid with the O atom in the apical position.

A chloride ligand together with three coordinating P ligand atoms create a slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment around the Pt(II) center. An inter-molecular water O-H?Cl(-) and water O-H?OP hydrogen-bond network completes the coordination around the anion. In addition, a disordered CH(2)Cl(2) solvent mol-ecule cocrystallized within a hydro-phobic cavity spanned by the dicyclo-hexyl-phosphane ligands.

Project description:The title compound, C60H76Si2, a formally anti-aromatic system containing 20-? electrons, contains a rare p-xylylene motif. This is displayed by the alternating short and long bonds. The outer rings possess nearly homogenous bond lengths. In the crystal, the molecules forms layers perpendicular to the c axis and within these layers there are two one-dimensional stacks with one stack that has a sp (2) carbon contact of 3.283?(6)?Å, less than the sum of the van der Waals radii.
