Catena-Poly[[tetra-aqua-zinc(II)]-?-2,2'-dihydr-oxy-5,5'-diazenediyldibenzoato].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Zn(C(14)H(8)N(2)O(6))(H(2)O)(4)](n), the 2,2'-dihydr-oxy-5,5'-diazenediyldibenzoate ligand acts as a carboxyl-ate bridge, leading to the formation of a polymeric chain running along the [10] direction. The Zn(II) atom is hexa-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by six O atoms [Zn-O = 2.055?(4)-2.132?(3)?Å] from two carboxylate ligands and four water mol-ecules. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O, O-H?N and C-H?O hydrogen bonds, and two ?-? inter-actions. The centroid-centroid distances are 3.803?(16) and 3.804?(17)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(14)H(8)O(5))(C(12)H(12)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry. Two N atoms of the chelating 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (dbp) ligand and two O atoms of two different 2,2'-oxydibenzoic (odb) ligands occupy the basal plane while the water O atom completes the square-pyramidal geometry at the apical site. The non-water N(2)O(2) donor atoms are nearly coplanar, with a mean deviation from the least-squares plane of 0.0518?(11)?Å and the Cu atom is displaced by 0.1507?(11)?Å from this plane towards the apical water O atom. Further coordination via the 2,2'-oxydibenzoate anions forms a one-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to [010]. In the crystal structure, O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

The Zn(II) ion exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry in which the four water mol-ecules are in the equatorial positions. The anions are hydrogen bonded to the polycationic chains by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The Zn(II) ion, 4,4'-bipy ligand and anion lie on special positions of 2/m site symmetry.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ni(C(20)H(14)N(2)O(4))]·2H(2)O, the Ni(II) ion is in an essentially square-planar geometry involving an N(2)O(2) atom set of the tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand. The Ni atom lies on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. The asymmetric unit contains one half-mol-ecule of the complex and a water mol-ecule. An inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond forms a four-membered ring, producing an R(1) (2)(4) ring motif involving a bifurcated hydrogen bond to the phenolate O atoms of the complex mol-ecule. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by ?-? stacking inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.5750?(11)-3.7750?(11)?Å. As a result of the twofold symmetry, the central benzene ring makes the same dihedral angle of 15.75?(9)° with the two outer benzene rings. The dihedral angle between the two hydroxy-phenyl rings is 13.16?(5)°. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into infinite one-dimensional chains by directed four-membered O-H?O-H inter-actions along the c axis and are further connected by C-H?O and ?-? stacking into a three-dimensional network. An inter-esting feature of the crystal structure is the short Ni?O, O?O and N?N inter-actions which are shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of the relevant atoms. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and by ?-? stacking inter-actions.
