Dichlorido[1-(1,10-phenanthrolin-2-yl)-2-pyridone]copper(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title mononuclear complex, [CuCl(2)(C(17)H(11)N(3)O)], the Cu(II) ion is in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment. The crystal structure is stabilized by various π-π stacking inter-actions in which the benzene ring, a pyridine ring and the five-membered CuN(2)C(2) ring are involved. The centroid-centroid distances range from 3.5631 (15) to 3.5666 (16) Å.

Project description:In the title mononuclear complex, [CdCl(2)(C(17)H(11)N(3)O)], the Cd(II) ion assumes a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. The pyridone plane is twisted out of the 1,10-phenanthroline mean plane by 43.8 (3)°. In the crystal structure, short inter-molecular distances [3.627 (4)-3.671 (4) Å] between the centroids of the six- and five-membered Cd-containing rings suggest the existence of π-π inter-actions, which link the mol-ecules into stacks along the a axis.

Project description:In the title mononuclear complex, [Zn(ClO(4))(C(17)H(11)N(3)O)(2)]ClO(4), the Zn(II) ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The dihedral angles between the pyridine rings and the mean planes of the 1,10-phenanthroline ring system in each of the 1-(1,10-phenanthrolin-2-yl)-2-pyridone (PP) ligands is 24.51 (10)° for the tridendate PP ligand and 73.55 (6)° for the bidentate PP ligand. Within the mol-ecule there is a weak π-π inter-action between the pyridine ring of the bidentate ligand and the 1,10-phenanthroline ring system of the tridendate ligand with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.6383 (19) Å.

There is a π-π stacking inter-action between adjacent 1,10-phenanthroline rings, with a distance of 3.675 (2) Å between the centroids of the pyridine and benzene rings.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu2(OH)2{C12H7N2(PO3C2H5)}2(H2O)2]·7H2O, two Cu2+ cations are bridged by two hydroxide groups, forming a centrosymmetric binuclear complex. Each Cu2+cation is further coordinated by the N atoms of a bidentate ethyl (1,10-phenanthrolin-3-yl)phospho-nate anion and a water mol-ecule in a square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal, a network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the P(O)(O-)(OEt) groups, bridging hydroxyl groups, coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules generates a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. The ethyl group exhibits disorder and was modelled over three sites with occupancies of 0.455, 0.384 and 0.161.

Project description:In the title complex, [PdCl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))], the Pd(2+) ion is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of the chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two chloride ions. The nearly planar mol-ecules, with a maximum deviation of 0.120 (3) Å from the least-squares plane, are stacked in columns along the c axis with a Pd⋯Pd distance of 4.8340 (9) Å. In the column, π-π inter-actions between adjacent six-membered rings are present, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 3.680 (4) Å. A weak C-H⋯Cl inter-action is observed between the columns.
