(Naphthalene-2,3-diolato-?(2)O,O')[tris-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine-?(4)N]cobalt(III) tetra-phenyl-borate acetone monosolvate hemihydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title salt, [Co(C(10)H(6)O(2))(C(18)H(18)N(4))](C(24)H(20)B)·C(3)H(6)O·0.5H(2)O, the Co(III) ion in the complex cation is six-coordinated in a rigid octa-hedral N(4)O(2) geometry. The asymmetric unit contains one complete [Co(C(10)H(6)O(2))(C(18)H(18)N(4))](+) unit, one tetraphenylborate counter-anion and one acetone and one water mol-ecule that is located on an inversion centre. All the features of the Co(III) ion are fully consistent with the formulation of the cation as a Co(3+)-catecholate complex. Variable-temperature magnetic measurements in the region 2-380?K show a obvious diamagnetism over the observed temperature range.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C(10)H(6)O(2))(C(18)H(18)N(4))]PF(6)·0.5H(2)O, the Co(III) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four N atoms from a tris-(2-pyridyl-meth-yl)amine ligand and two O atoms from a naphthalene-2,3-diolate ligand. The asymmetric unit contains two complex cations, two hexa-fluoridophosphate anions and one uncoordinated water mol-ecule. In one of the hexa-fluoridophosphate anions, four of the F aroms are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.632 (11):0.368 (11) ratio. In the crystal, the cations, anions and water mol-ecules are connected by O-H⋯O and O-H⋯F hydrogen bonds. π-π inter-actions are present between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.814 (1) Å].

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CuBr(C18H18N4)]Br, there are three crystallographically independent cations. One of the cations exhibits positional disorder of the pyridin-2-yl-methyl groups over two sets of sites with refined occupancies of 0.672?(8) and 0.328?(8). The outer-sphere bromine counter-ion is severely disordered over multiple sites. In each cation, the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by the four N atoms of the tris-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine ligand and one bromine and adopts a slightly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry.

Project description:The title compound, C(11)H(11)N(3), crystallizes with two mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. The geometries of both mol-ecules are very similar, with the exception of the torsion angles of the inter-ring chains; the values for C-N-C-C are 67.4?(5) and -69.3?(5)° for mol-ecules A and B, respectively. The dihedral angles between the pyridyl ring planes are 84.0?(2) and 83.2?(2)° for mol-ecules A and B, respectively. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds and C-H?? inter-actions contribute to the stabilization of the packing.

Project description:Structural analysis of (acetato-?2O,O')(methanol-?O)[tris-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine-?4N,N',N'',N''']manganese(II) tetraphenyl-borate, [Mn(C2H3O2)(C18H18N4)(CH3OH)](C24H20B) or [Mn(TMPA)(Ac)(CH3OH)]BPh4 [TMPA = tris-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine, Ac = acetate, BPh4 = tetra-phenyl-borate] by single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals a complex cation with tetra-dentate coordination of the tripodal TMPA ligand, bidentate coordination of the Ac ligand and monodentate coordination of the methanol ligand to a single MnII center, balanced in charge by the presence of a tetra-phenyl-borate anion. The MnII complex has a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry, in which the central amine nitro-gen and two pyridyl N atoms of the TMPA ligand, and two oxygen atoms of the acetate ligand occupy positions in the penta-gonal plane, while the third pyridyl nitro-gen of TMPA and the oxygen from the methanol ligand occupy the axial positions. Within the complex, the acetate O atoms participate in weak C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions with neighboring pyridyl moieties. In the crystal, complexes form dimers by pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated methanol of one complex and an acetate oxygen of the other, and weak ?-stacking inter-actions between pyridine rings. Separate dimers then undergo additional ?-stacking inter-actions between the pyridine rings of one moiety and either the pyridine or phenyl rings of another moiety that further stabilize the crystal.

The Re(I) atom is facially surrounded by three carbonyl ligands and a tridentate bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)amine ligand in a distorted octahedral environment. N-H?Br, O-H?Br, C-H?O and C-H?Br hydrogen bonds are present in the crystal structure and ?-? stacking is also observed [centroid-centroid distances = 3.669?(1)?Å and 4.054?(1)?Å], giving rise to a three-dimentional network. The mol-ecules pack in a head-to-head fashion along the ac plane.

This set-up leads to the formation of a 14-membered cyclic dimer. The two pyridine rings coordinated to the Ag(+) cation are tilted by 80.19?(7)° with respect to each other. Inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the cyclic dimer and the anion exist. A two-dimensional network parallel to the ac plane is constructed by three weak Ag?(O,N) inter-actions as well as an F?F contact of 2.890?(4)?Å.
