In the reaction of pyridine-2-carb-oxy-lic acid and stannic chloride in methanol, one equivalent of the carb-oxy-lic acid is protonated at the amino site and is also esterified, yielding the title salt, (C(7)H(8)NO(2))[SnCl(4)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))]. The Sn(IV) atom in the anion is N,O-chelated by a pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate in a cis-SnNOCl(4) octa-hedral geometry. The cation is linked to the anion by an N-H⋯O hydrogen bond. ...[more]
