Cis-Dichloridobis(di-2-pyridyl-amine-?N,N')manganese(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [MnCl(2)(C(10)H(9)N(3))(2)], the Mn(II) ion is six-coordinated in a considerably distorted cis-N(4)Cl(2) octa-hedral environment defined by four N atoms of two chelating di-2-pyridyl-amine (dpa) ligands and two Cl(-) anions. In the crystal, the dpa ligands are not planar, the dihedral angles between the two pyridine rings being 29.3?(2) and 30.9?(2)°. The complex mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the c axis and are connected by inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. Weak inter- and intra-molecular ?-? inter-actions are present between the pyridine rings, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 4.406?(3)?Å.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [MnI(C(10)H(9)N(3))(2)(H(2)O)]I, contains a cationic Mn(II) complex and an I(-) anion. In the complex, the Mn(II) ion is six-coordinated in a considerably distorted cis-N(4)IO octa-hedral environment defined by four N atoms of the two chelating di-2-pyridyl-amine (dpa) ligands, one I(-) anion and one O atom of a water ligand. As a result of the different trans effects of the I, N and O atoms, the Mn-N bond trans to the I atom is slightly longer than the Mn-N bond trans to the N or O atoms. The dpa ligands are not planar, with dihedral angles between the two pyridine rings of 26.2?(4) and 26.5?(4)°. The complex cations are stacked in columns along the a axis and are linked to the anions by inter-molecular O-H?I and N-H?I hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2)S)(2)](n), the Co(II) atom is located on an inversion centre and is six-coordinated by four N atoms of four symmetry-related di-4-pyridyl sulfide ligands, and two Cl atoms in trans positions, in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The bridging bidentate di-4-pyridyl sulfide ligands link the Co(II) centres into a three-dimensional network. Project description:The title complex, [Cu(SO(4))(C(10)H(9)N(3))(CH(3)OH)], is a mononuclear species with the Cu(II) ion in a Jahn-Teller-distorted '4 + 1' square-pyramidal geometry. The basal plane is defined by the pyridyl N-atom donors of the bipyridyl-amine (bpa) ligand and two O-atom donors of the sulfate ligand. The coordination geometry is completed by the axial coordination of a methanol O-atom donor. The axial bond length displays the usual elongation: Cu-O(axial) = 2.168?(2), Cu-O(basal) = 2.016?(2) (average) and Cu-N(basal) = 1.951?(3)?Å (average). Project description:The metal site in the title compound [MnCl(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(2)]·2.5H(2)O has a distorted octa-hedral geometry, coordinated by four N atoms of two 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-dipyridine ligands and two Cl atoms. Two and a half water molecules of hydration per complex unit are observed in the crystal structure. The compounds extend along the c axis with O-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯O, C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.70 (2) Å] contributing substanti-ally to the crystal packing. The Mn and one of the water O atoms, the latter being half-occupied, are located on special positions, in this case a rotation axis of order 2.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [MnCl(2)(C(5)H(10)O(2))(2)], was solved from low-temperature data collected at 100 (2) K. The asymmetric unit contains one half-mol-ecule with the Mn(II) ion located on a twofold axis. A distorted octa-hedral environment around the Mn atom is formed by two ether and two hydroxyl O atoms of two 2-(hydroxy-methyl)tetra-hydro-furan ligands, and by two chloride ions. The chelating tetra-hydro-furan ligands, which form five-membered rings, are cis oriented. The crystal structure is stabilized by hydrogen bonding between the coordinated OH groups and the chloride ions.

Weak π-π stacking inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.862 (2) and 3.887 (5) Å, and significant C-H⋯π inter-actions help to stabilize the crystal structure. The atoms of the unique terminal 4-pyridine-propane group are disordered over two sites, the ratio of refined occpancies being 0.712 (7):0.288 (7).
