4,4'-Bipyridinium bis-(oxalato-?O,O)cuprate(II): an ion-pair complex.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, (C(10)H(10)N(2))[Cu(C(2)O(4))(2)] or (4,4'-H(2)bpy)[Cu(ox)(2)] (bpy is 4,4'-bipyridine and ox is oxalate), is an ion-pair complex comprising a protonated 4,4'-bipyridinium dication and a square-planar dioxalatocopper(II) dianion. In the centrosymmetric dianion, the Cu(II) centre is coordinated by four O atoms from the two dicrete oxalate ligands [Cu-O = 1.9245?(19) and 1.9252?(17)?Å], while the planar dications are also centrosymmetric. Inter-species N-H?O hydrogen bonds link the cations and anions into one-dimensional chains and, together with weak intra-ion C-H?O inter-actions, give a two-dimensional sheet structure.

Two uncoordinated water mol-ecules are present in asymmetric unit. Inter-molecular N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the different entities stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The structure of the title ionic compound, (C(5)H(6)N(5))(2)[Cu(C(2)O(4))(2)]·2H(2)O, consists of a centrosymmetric copper(II) oxalate dianion, two monoprotonated mol-ecules of the adenine analog 7-amino-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (7atp) and two water mol-ecules of crystallization. The Cu(II) ion, located on an inversion center, exhibits a sligthly distorted square-planar coordination geometry, in which two oxalate anions bind in a bidentate fashion. The triazolopyrimidine ligand is protonated at the N atom in position 4, instead of its most basic N atom in position 3. This fact may be explained by the network stability, which is provided through the formation of a two-dimensional wave-like network parallel to (50[Formula: see text]) by N-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. These nets are further connected via C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(19)H(18)N(3))(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of square-planar [CuCl(4)](2-) anions and triphenyl-guanidinium cations. The Cu(II) ion occupies a crystallographic inversion centre. In the cation, the dihedral angles between the phenyl rings and the plane defined by the central guanidinium fragment are in the range 51.9 (4)-64.4 (3)°. N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds assemble the ions into infinite chains running along the b axis.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, {(NH4)2[Cu(C2O4)2]} n , at 100?K has monoclinic (P21/c) symmetry with the CuII atom on an inversion center. The compound has a polymeric structure due to long Cu?O inter-actions which create [Cu(C2O4)2] chains along the a axis. The structure also displays inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonding, which links these chains into a three-dimensional network.

Crystal structure of the thermochromic bis-(di-ethyl-ammonium) tetra-chlorido-cuprate(II) complex.

Project description:In the structure of the title complex salt, (Et2NH2)2[CuCl4], the asymmetric unit consists of four unique di-ethyl-ammonium cations and three unique tetra-chlorido-cuprate anions. Two of the three anions are located with their copper atoms on independent crystallographic twofold axes, while the remaining tetra-chlorido-cuprate is located at a general position of the ortho-rhom-bic space group P21212. Two of the three Cu atoms adopt a distorted square-planar/disphenoidal geometry and the third Cu atom has a regular square-planar coordination environment. The di-ethyl-ammonium cations form an extensive hydrogen-bonded network through N-H⋯Cl inter-actions with the tetra-chlorido-cuprate anions, resulting in a two-dimensional sheet-like hydrogen-bonded network parallel to the ab direction. The complex was observed to undergo a color shift from deep green at room temperature to pale yellow at temperatures above 328 K.

Bis(1-methyl-piperidinium) tetra-chlorido-cuprate(II).

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(6)H(14)N)(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of two inequivalent 1-methyl-piperidinium cations and a flattened tetra-hedral [CuCl(4)](2-) anion. Each organic cation exhibits a chair conformation with the methyl group in the equatorial position. They are segregated into alternating layers parallel to (100) and stacked along [100]. The first cation is arranged in parallel stacks in a herringbone pattern with rows of [CuCl(4)](2-) anions fitting between the stacks and with a Cl(-) ion directed into the inter-ior of the layer. The second organic cation forms distorted hcp layers that separate the other organic cation/[CuCl(4)](2-) slabs. N-H?Cl hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anions consolidates the crystal packing.

Project description:The structure of the title salt, (C(6)H(8)N)(2)[CuCl(3.4)Br(0.6)], consists of two 3-methyl-pyridinium cations and a distorted tetra-hedral [CuCl(3.4)Br(0.6)](2-) dianion. Substitutional disorder with Br is exhibited for three of the Cl atoms of the anion, giving a mixed chloride/bromide cuprate(II) anion. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link two cations to one anion, forming a three-ion aggregate. These are connected into a supra-molecular chain along the b axis via ?-? inter-actions between the pyridinium rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.743?(3)?Å].

Project description:The complete complex anion in the title salt, (C(11)H(19)N(2))(2)[Cu(C(4)N(2)S(2))(2)], has 2/m symmetry while the complete cation is generated by mirror symmetry with the non-H atoms of the alkyl chain lying on the plane. A square-planar geometry based on an S(4) donor set is found in the anion; the Cu-S distance is 2.2663?(5)?Å. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds link the ions into layers in the bc plane comprising alternating rows of cations and anions.
